I never quite know what to put in these “about” spaces. I’m a happy, Austin, Texas, resident and I love going out and enjoying live music. I have been a radio disc jockey for many years and the last five years here in town until “the man” came down and crushed my dream and livelihood and pulled the job out from under my feet. So, now, I have more time and less money to get out and see the shows. The main website gives you the inside skinny on who is playing where (limited to Texas country, Americana, and other cool shows) and the blog tells you where I’ve been, who I’ve seen, and what I’m up to.
Besides the music, I have a great little hideaway in South Austin with my husband Mark Hays, my favorite Austin drummer. We have two fabulous cats, Nathan Jr. and Willie, and we appreciate good food, quality music, and the vibe that is our city!
I was very upset when “they” the unnamed radio station fired SAMMY ALLREAD but I had no idea till today that you were gone too. GEEZ what are those “suits” thinking… duh.. thats two of my favorites gone. I will not be surprised if they ax BOB soon. I sent letters to the station.. emails to the sponsors.. what a lousy way to treat your employees.. and in radio .. should’nt it be the listener who gets to say who and which one that they like to listen too. After all SPONSORS we the public buy your products.. and this buyer says if its not broke leave it alone… SAM was what made the morning show. Now its just like all the others. Janice.. was the afternoon delight.
I wish you Luck Janice .. the unnamed radio station doesnt deserve you. And someone will be smart enough to get Sammy back on the air. Just let the listeners know so we can switch our dials and hear you again.
God Bless you and yours and yes MERRY CHRISTMAS

I have missed you on the air. After reading your new web page I found the real answer. I didn’t know what had happened but I guess they decided to clean house. You probably don’t remember my name but I won several of the “Let’s learn about Austin” quiz shows you used to host. That quiz show made my commute home after work so much more fun. Instead of mindlessly sitting in traffic I could furiously dial the staion number over and over again to submit my answer. I miss the old KVET and don’t really listen anymore. I wish you well and good luck. I hope you get back on the air because I miss the layed back attitude you seemed to have.

Janice:
I was shocked when you disappeared from the airwaves. I was gobsmacked when Sammy Allred was shoved out the door; but I am now officially turned off by the forced combination of Bob and Bucky.
They don’t play any music in the morning, Janice! It’s very sad.
I miss you on the air!

Was catching up on what was going on with you and had to comment on the “Bucky & Bob Show”. I have quit listening to that unnamed station until after 10AM and haven’t had the radio in my car on in ages. Don’t need traffic reports now since I only have a 15 minute commute and use back country roads. Still miss listening to you. Hope you’re doing well.

Austin is great. I can’t wait to go back. Hopefully my buddy will play there again and I can tag along.
