The again there was Dew Shelton's General Store in Mullin in the late 60's. Most of the stuff he stocked expired during the Coolidge administration. I don't think he ever actually sold anything--folks went to Goldthwaite if they wanted to buy food that wouldn't put them in the morgue----all the old geezers like Eli Edmondson just sat around smoking, chewing tobacco, scratching, and talking all day. Once I picked up a box of Sugar Crisp in there and the thing was like a cement block. I swear it would have stopped a bullet.

Thank you for the "heads up" about the Primetime show. I wasn't very patient watching it....kept wanting them to skip over those other mysteries and get to the spasmodic dysphonia. It was extremely interesting and even though I don't really understand it, I'm amazed at how you well did on the radio and at the live shows. My throat hurt just watching the procedures!! I've always admired your talent, I admire it even more now knowing what you've personally fought to keep us entertained.

Thanks, Janice!!!

I'm a little late in posting this, but the Belleville Outfit is fantastic---such a great professional sound from a group of young folks. Their fiddle player, Phoebe Hunt, is a spectacular fiddler and vocalist. The whole band is just superb. You'd never know by listening to them the oldest member was only 24 years old.

You are right. Sadly, I haven't checked out your blog in a long while now. I just read your closet/organizing episode. I have been watching "Clean House" as often as I can. (It seems to be on tv a lot.) Every time I watch, I try to pack a bag of give aways or do some recycling. I'll admit that my house is still a big mess. (Plus, my office is appalling.) No matter how much I give away, I keep finding more stuff.
It's much easier to get rid of other people's junk. I will happily trade you time at your house for time at my house. You like?

Amen, sister! Preach on!

I, too, get tired of the "Oh, you gotta see this". And being a person that has been using the internet nearly since Al Gore invented it, I have seen it all. Oftimes more than a dozen. Funny, how many times I've been sent to hell, called a traitor, called un-American, called a selfish un-caring scumbag, and generally made to feel like like a heel, just because I didn't want to pass on the very thing that clogs up the bandwidth which could, instead, be used for finding Bin-Laden. Or less importantly, the next shocking revelations of the two presidential hopefuls. Which brings me to my next pet peeve - crap being slung about as if it is gospel truth about one candidate's position with the new slant on that position and how dangerous that kind of stance is to me. How much room do I have for a rant here? Oh, sorry. Where was I? Oh yeah - the internet. People, please listen to this woman (Janice, I mean) and think before you pull that "send" trigger. TY.

Oh, and Hi, Janice.

adios, cb
