Welcome to Janice
Williams' Austin
Have you ever visited austinpostcard.com?
As a postcard collector, history buff and Austin lover, it is a dream
come true! Thank you, Casey Weaver, for such a great site.
This
site is your portal to the Texas Country Music Scene. A daily listing
of
the gigs around the Austin area by country, Americana, folk, and a few
other indefinable kinds of music. I hope you discover some
new artists and new venues and you go out and support live music
tonight!
If
you just happened upon this site, I am Janice Williams and I have been
in Austin 9 years. I am a recovering disc jockey and
have
said the name "Janice Williams" on the air a couple of million times.
Now I am discovering that if I want people to search or Google "Janice
Williams" and find this site, the words Janice Williams need to be on
here more often. So, forgive what appears to be ego which is really
just, well, self-aggrandizement.
While
I'm encouraging people to find this site, I bet if I put words like
Kevin Fowler, Aaron Watson, Pat Green, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Jason
Boland, Cory Morrow, Jack Ingram, and Stoney LaRue, a few more people
will find it.
Pass the word to your friends!

Chip Taylor at the Cactus Cafe 830 pm $12
Sure, he wrote "Wild Thing" (Troggs) and "Angel of the Morning"

I've never quite forgiven myself
for blowing up Uncle Homer with a bottle rocket . Yes, I was
"grown up" and knew what I was doing (I thought). Be careful with the
fireworks and be careful with all the dry grass. In fact, skip the
fireworks and go see some music.

Jimmy Webb at
the Cactus Cafe 830 $33 in advance This would be an
amazing show. He's the guy that wrote most of Glen Campbell's big hits
(By the Time I Get To Phoenix , Wichita Lineman) and ALSO wrote Up Up
and Away (in My Beautiful Balloon) for the Fifth Dimension and
McArthur Park for Richard Harris/Donna Summer/Waylon Jennings and just
about everyone else in the world. My aunt Louie taught Jimmy Webb
English and music in junior high school in Eldorado, Oklahoma, so I've
always felt a connection. Where would he be without my aunt Louie? I
don't have a picture of Jimmy Webb (and who knows what he looks like
anyway?) so I will put a picture of Aunt Louie (Mrs. White to Jimmy
Webb) instead.
