FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
AND THEIR ANSWERS

What is janicewilliamsaustin.com?
When I was on the radio, as I prepared for the Countdown each Wednesday
and for the Sunday Night Texas Show, I had a difficult time finding the
gigs I was looking for. Some local calendars had most of the Texas
Country offerings, but also listed all of the rock and hip-hop and
what-not. Some offered the biggest names in the Texas music scene, but
missed a lot of the up-and-comers. At one time, Bill Groll had a great
weekly calendar that included a lot of the acts that the others missed,
but he didn't include the frat country type artists. So, this calendar
was born. With a sudden abundance of time on my hands, I learned to put
up a website and do some html tweaks and managed to at least get this
"on the air," so to speak.
So, basically, it is a calendar of the gigs around the Austin area of
the artists that are pure country, Texas country, sort of rock country,
Americana, folk, maybe Cajun, bluegrass, sometimes swing, a little
blues, and just about anything else that I like that seems to fit.
Sometimes I do offer some labels to help you make your decisions
about the gigs you would like to attend and I will admit that labels
are hard to choose. Forgive me, if you will, if you don't like my
labels. Feel free to let me know, too. Email me with any thoughts on that.
I fit one of your categories. Can I get on your list?
You probably can. Just email me,
and if you have a website or myspace, let me know where it is.
The more notice you can give, the better, but if something comes
up last minute, or changes, please let me know that, too.
So what happened? Where are you? Why aren't you on the radio?
I'd still be there if I could! I was let go October
26, 2007. And don't feel bad if you're just finding out. I'd
still love to hear from you.
How's Sam?
As far as I know, he's doing fine. You can still see him with the Geezinslaws
when they play. They are on my calendar when they do. They will be at
the Broken Spoke on the fourth Saturday of each month. When I can, I
come and play accordion on "Big Harlan Taylor." It's the highlight of
my month!
Are you looking for work?
I loved radio, but I think my radio days are over.
I really am loving website design and working on the computer, so
I would like to find an opportunity to continue this as well as write,
edit, speak, and communicate with people in new ways. If you have
an opportunity for me, I'd be happy to talk to you or email you a
resume. My email is janice@janicewilliamsaustin.com.
